Marginalia

This original one-act was created by myself and poet Jen Schmidt as a collaborative reflection on Holy Saturday and the three women present at Christ’s tomb. It was performed in St. Salvator’s Chapel in St. Andrews, Scotland, on April 16, 2019, as a part of the 2019 Transept arts showcase The Space Between.

In a home, somewhere, though they have just arrived to it. The WOMEN sit together, each at their own task. CLEOPHAS rolls bandages. MAGDALENE is stripping aloe from the leaf. VIRGIN holds a wreath, half complete.

“Now it was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them who told this to the apostles. But these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them.” Luke 24:10-1
